Position Type: Contractor
Work Location: Primarily from home with regularly scheduled meetings at the museum.
Compensation: The Capital Campaign Project Manager will receive a competitive salary commensurate with experience up to $80,000. This is a contract position tied to the duration of the campaign, with potential for extension.
Position Overview
The Museum of Northern California Art (monca) is spearheading a transformational capital campaign to continue the restoration and renovation of the historic Veterans Memorial Hall building in Chico, CA. monca currently resides in the front portion of the building, which was renovated in 2017. Once completed, monca will become a greatly expanded museum, performing arts center, and a regional cultural hub for Northern California.
We're seeking an experienced and passionate Capital Campaign Project Manager to lead this major fundraising effort.
The Capital Campaign Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a multi-million-dollar capital campaign. Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Campaign Committee, the manager will help set and achieve the campaign’s fundraising and community engagement goals in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned development professional with a strong track record of securing major gifts, cultivating long-term donor relationships, and managing large-scale fundraising campaigns.
Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement a comprehensive capital campaign strategy and timeline.

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors including individuals, foundations, and corporations.

Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support monca’s overall campaign goals, with a specific focus on major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and corporate partnerships.

Write grants pertaining to the project funding and sustainability.

Coordinate the efforts of campaign leadership, consultants, and volunteers.

Prepare compelling campaign materials, proposals, and updates.

Manage events related to the capital campaign, such as donor cultivation events and other stewardship functions like town halls and community meetings.

Ensure that donor records of gifts and pledges are meticulously and accurately tracked in the donor database.

Provide regular reports and analysis to leadership on fundraising progress, campaign milestones, and financial goals.

Regularly update and communicate with donors regarding campaign progress, achievements, and milestones.

Serve as an ambassador for monca and the campaign throughout the community.

Foster partnerships with veterans' groups, civic leaders, and arts advocates throughout the North State.
Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in fundraising, nonprofit management, or a related field.

Master’s degree or advanced certification in nonprofit management or related field preferred.

Three or more years of successful experience leading or supporting a capital campaign and/or major fundraising initiative.

Proven success securing major gifts and working with high-level donors.

Proven success securing grant funds and writing grants.

Ability to handle and keep secure confidential patron information.

Excellent communication, project management, and interpersonal skills.

Experience with donor research.

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including museum staff, Board members, and donors.

Passion for the arts, cultural preservation, and community development.

Knowledge of the Northern California philanthropic landscape or regional arts organizations is a plus.
