If you are looking for a rewarding way to serve the Chico community we invite you to join our volunteer program. Help assist staff in presenting exhibits and programs on the north state’s history, arts and culture of diversity.

Whether you’re looking for a few hours to fill or a regular position, a range of opportunities are available to choose from including:

• Gallery Docents provide assistance in day-to-day operations: assist in the gift shop, at the welcome desk, and educate visitors on current exhibits
• Events Assistants work at monca's special events
• Mobile Museum Ambassadors bring art to our local community via the art bus
• Ambassadors represent monca at community events

No experience necessary — all volunteer positions feature in-depth training.

Positions

We are a non-profit institution run primarily by volunteers. Volunteers fill positions throughout the museum and work with the Executive Director and Board members to accomplish the tasks of successfully running an art museum. Volunteers fill day-to-day operations and business functions.

Event Docents

Do you enjoy meeting new people, talking about art, and setting up activities at community events? This is a great opportunity for those who love talking to people of all ages.

Fundraising

Volunteers work with the Board of Directors to plan and implement fundraising events and programs.

Research

Create content for an upcoming exhibit, find grants for museums or nonprofits, or come up with ideas for museum programs. Volunteers who prefer to work behind the scenes might choose this option.

Grant Writing

If you have experience with grant writing with a track record for success, this is the option for you!

Driving Docents

Facilitate the Mobile Museum program, educating and entertaining the public by bringing original art and activities to community centers and senior facilities. Driving Docents get to see and learn about the original art in the collection. Perfect for art enthusiasts!

Committees

Whether you want to design exhibitions, host events, fundraise, plan educational programs, or help the permanent collection grow and flourish, joining a committee allows you to join in on all of the important decisions.
