Field Trips
The Museum of Northern California Art is a great place for a field trip with a social or student group. We encourage learners of all ages and abilities to visit and explore.
General Field Trip Info
A school visit to monca is educational, engaging, and challenging, and just the right amount of fun. We help students gain a new appreciation of the fascinating world of art and discover local artists. Our goal is to inspire community members to dream bigger and reach farther. Art is the perfect metaphor to stimulate potential. We’ve tailored our program to match grade levels and comprehension skills. Conducted by the museum’s team of experienced Education Guides, each visit offers unique opportunities for students to learn through instruction and demonstration. Field trips are also a wonderful way to enhance classroom instruction. Students receive an up-close experience with local art. Teachers can use the topics covered during the field trip to stimulate future lessons in critical thinking and the creative arts. We welcome scouting troops, senior living social groups, clubs, and more!
The Roger Steel Legacy Grant Program
Local educator Roger Steel was an advocate for education and champion for at-risk populations. To honor his service as monca’s Board President from 2020-2021, monca launched a program to increase museum access for underserved students at Butte County schools. The Roger Steel Legacy Grant Program offsets the cost of field trips and summer programs (including bus travel) for students who might not otherwise be able to attend. The museum kicked off the program with a $3000 allocation in 2022 and continues to serve educational needs to local kids via generous donations. If you are interested in donating to the program, please click here to donate. If you or someone you know would like to apply to the grant, click here and complete the Google Form.
