Open Dance with Mary Sweeney

Get groovy during monca's Open Dance event on Sunday, October 5 from 9:00-10:30AM.

Led by local dancer, choreographer, and instructor, Mary Sweeney, Open Dance encourages spontaneous, flowing movements that begin from within yourself. Listen to your body. Notice your breath. Let your body lead you into unpredictable, playful, nonjudgmental movement. You may find yourself connecting with other people and with this beautiful gallery space.

Think of the word "open" and what it means in regard to dance - to unfold, to be free, to grow, to permit passage. Let this time for dance ground you in the week and help you get connected to your inner and outer worlds.

This event is open to folks of all ages and abilities. Seats will be available for rest. Intentionally selected recorded music will accompany and inspire you dance experience. We encourage dancers to wear loose, comfortable clothing and a water bottle to stay hydrated. Moving barefooted is encouraged, but optional.

monca is a safe space and the dancing will take place before the museum opens to the general public.

$10 General Admission

Tickets for Open Dance are available online here or at the door.
