Join us at monca for another incredible West Coast Swing dance class series hosted by local dancer and choreographer, Ray Hayes! This series will focus on implementing choreography as well as refining intermediate dance skills.
Each week is structured with three classes to accommodate different skill levels. Participants are welcome to join for all three sessions or the first two sessions if they are beginning their dance journey. Folks must have previous West Coast Swing Dance experience to participate effectively in the choreography session. One class ticket includes all three sessions.
Weekly Schedule:
6:00-6:45PM - intro session*
6:45-7:30PM - all levels session*
7:30-8:30PM - choreography session (requires knowledge of WCS basics)
*absolute beginners welcome
By the end of the series, students will increase their proficiency in the foundational basics of West Coast Swing. If you are a seasoned dancer, you can benefit from these classes by solidifying your technique and learning how to modify your dance with partners of varying skill levels. Variations will be added for those seeking more of a challenge.
Participants do not need to come with a dancing partner, as partnerships will be randomized and folks will dance with many different partners per class.
You may purchase tickets online here and in person at the museum. Online ticket sales are preferred. Tickets are available to buy singularly or in a package deal if you plan on attending more than one class.

Week SIX : Thursday, April 16, 2026, classes 6-7:30PM, Social Dance 7:30-9:30, $20 or $10 for Social Dance only
Six Class Package: $99

Two Class Package: $40
At the end of the series, you can join in for an optional social dance to practice everything you’ve learned! The Social Dance on Thursday, April 16th is open to anyone, regardless of prior dance class attendance. Space is limited!
If you would like to attend the entire class and social dance, tickets are $20 per person. If you are interested in just the social dance, tickets are $10 per person.
We encourage you to bring friends or family and make a special evening out of these terrific dance sessions. People of all backgrounds are welcome to join and learn more about dance!
Ray Hayes is a lifelong dancer and has experience teaching Salsa, Bachata, West Coast Swing, and Fusion at Chapman University. Hayes holds a 1st Place award in Advanced West Coast Swing from the 2019 US Open Swing Dance Championships.
