Volunteer Coordinator
Compensation: $1,000 per month
Hours: 10 hours per week
Position Length: 6 month contract to be extended with successful execution of role
Position Overview
This is a rewarding and fulfilling volunteer role that allows you to make a positive impact in the community by connecting passionate individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities at monca. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the recruitment, training, and management of monca volunteers.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Management
- Assign volunteers to appropriate roles in a timely manner.
- Artfully address any concerns or issues that volunteers may have, ensuring a positive experience.
Volunteer Orientation & Training
- Provide monthly orientation and training sessions for new volunteers, ensuring they understand the organization’s mission, values, and procedures.
- Maintain training materials and manuals for volunteers.
- Offer ongoing training opportunities to enhance volunteer skills and knowledge.
- Ensure proper waivers and confidentiality forms are signed by all volunteers.
- Train and prepare special events volunteers (e.g. bartenders to understand and sign-off on Alcohol Serving Guidelines)
Scheduling & Coordination
- Send out a monthly volunteer schedule request to staff events and Welcome Desk.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer schedules, ensuring coverage for all required shifts or events.
- Send weekly emails to remind volunteers of their assigned shifts.
- Ensure any open or last minute cancelled shifts are filled as needed.
Volunteer Recruitment
- Develop and implement strategies to attract and recruit volunteers.
- Conduct outreach and foster partnerships through various channels (e.g., social media, local events, schools, businesses).
- Screen and interview potential volunteers.
Volunteer Recognition & Retention
- Develop and implement recognition programs to celebrate volunteer achievements (e.g., volunteer of the month, appreciation events).
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers, including updates, and invitations to events.
- Conduct exit interviews with volunteers to gather feedback and improve volunteer engagement efforts.
Data Management & Reporting
- Track and maintain accurate volunteer records and volunteer contact information.
- Prepare reports on volunteer activity, performance, and impact.
- Send a report of the upcoming week’s volunteer schedule with the Executive Director.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Previous experience in volunteer coordination, event planning, or nonprofit work preferred.
Skills & Abilities
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a diverse group of volunteers.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
