Enjoy an evening of live music from “The Folk Element Trio” on Friday, January 30th from 7-9PM at monca.
The Folk Element Trio is rooted in the tradition of jazz but reaches beyond to incorporate different styles of folk music from around the world. In 2021, the band’s debut album received rave reviews and now they are sharing their music on a 5-week West Coast Tour.
Musicians include guitarist Amad Moezinia, bassist Emiliano Lasansky, and Marcello Carelli on drums.
Bandleader Adam Moezinia studied at The Julliard School and has played with many iconic jazz musicians including Cecile McLorin Salvant, Freddy Cole, George Coleman, and Mike LeDonne.
Emiliano Lasansky studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York and received a master’s degree from the prestigious Herbie Hancock Jazz Institute at UCLA.
Drummer Marcello Carelli earned his master’s in jazz studies at the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music and was the teaching assistant for 2-time Grammy award-winning drummer and composer, Peter Erskine.
