Don't Kill the Messenger

Art is never silent. Even in stillness, it speaks—through symbol, gesture, color, and form.

Join us for the unique and provocative exhibition titled Don't Kill the Messenger, on view at The Museum of Northern California Art (monca) from Thursday, August 28 - Sunday, October 12.

The artworks included in the exhibition carry a message: whispered truths, layered meanings, quiet resistance, or declarations that won’t be ignored. Pieces vary from vibrant and playful collage to metal sculpture and quilled paper art.

This exhibition highlights the subtle and the striking, the personal and the political—work that reaches beyond the surface to tell us something you want us to hear.

Life is Short, Art is Long - Dobbin von Puck

Delve into bright spaces and imaginative scenes featured in the upcoming exhibition titled Life is Short, Art is Long - Dobbin von Puck. Check out the exhibition from Thursday, August 28 - Sunday, October 5, 2025.

Dobbin von Puck, aka Dr. Robert Puckett, paints what he sees between his ears. Von Puck views his paintings as colorful poems stuffed in a bottle and thrown into the sea of time. If retrieved someday, they must speak for themselves, tell their own story. The painter will not matter. He is but a point of reference.

Eternal truths hide in timeless moments. Such moments are captured in universal symbols, which have the knack of remaining relevant. One can never be sure how successful such endeavors will be. Only time will tell.
