Anecia Johnson is a Chico-based author, educator, and founder of Amma Culture, an initiative dedicated to education, science, and the arts. Rooted in a multigenerational legacy of community leadership, she draws from her upbringing in Chico’s Black community to explore identity, history, and cultural understanding. Johnson’s work challenges simplified narratives around race, emphasizing that lived experiences and systemic realities continue into the present. Through her writing, speaking, and community engagement, she creates space for honest dialogue and deeper awareness. Her perspective is both personal and historical, shaped by family influence, local experience, and a commitment to education. Johnson’s work invites audiences to reflect, learn, and engage with stories that are often overlooked but essential to understanding the full American experience.
