The Museum of Northern California Art (monca) proudly presents Roots and Routes: Latin American Perspectives, an exhibition that celebrates the diverse journeys and rich culture of Northern California artists from the Latino, Latinx, Chicano, Mexican, and Latin American communities. This vibrant showcase opens on Thursday, May 16, 2024, and will run until Sunday, July 7, 2024, at our location at 900 Esplanade, Chico.
Roots and Routes offers a platform for contemporary expressions that reflect the unique perspectives, traditions, and cultures within these dynamic communities. By bringing together a wide array of artistic mediums, the exhibition aims to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the differences and similarities that shape our experiences and identities.
Throughout the duration of Roots and Routes, monca will host a series of related events, including artist talks, a street fair, and a piñata workshop- it’s going to be a party! Dates and details for these events will be announced on our social media platforms and in our newsletter, so be sure to follow us to stay updated.
We invite everyone to join us in exploring Roots and Routes. Come and experience the powerful ways in which art can connect us to our heritage and guide us through our personal and collective journeys. Whether you’re familiar with the cultures represented or eager to learn about new perspectives, this exhibition promises to offer something enriching and inspiring for all.
The exhibition will kick off with a FREE opening reception on Friday, May 17, from 6-8 pm, featuring a no host bar.
Mark your calendars for this unforgettable exploration of culture, identity, and artistic expression at monca!
