Penny Press: Call for Art

monca is the proud owner of a new souvenir penny press thanks to the generous donation by David and Shari Hopper.

There will be four designs available to press into souvenir pennies for museum visitors to take home.

Submit original artwork that represents Butte County for a chance to win. Winning artists will be awarded a prize of $250 for their contribution.

Art must be clear and crisp to accommodate the penny flattening process. Avoid small details and text. Resolution should be 300dpi.

Designs must be submitted by Sunday, March 23rd, 2025 at 5PM. Winners will be announced shortly after the submission window closes. 

Eligibility:

Original works created by artists residing in Northern California, defined as San Jose and all points north, east, and west to the state border. If you have eligibility questions please email [email protected].

Jurying:

The museum’s exhibition committee, composed of professional artists and art collectors, will make the final selections for the designs.
