Introducing monca’s new community-crafted t-shirt! Executive Director Pat Macias and Board Member Pennie Baxter brainstormed a way to invite local input to produce a school-sourced design. A contest was developed for students enrolled in art classes at CUSD junior high and high schools. Information was sent out to all art teachers and Marsh Junior High, Bidwell Junior High, Inspire School for the Arts, and Chico High School responded. Entrees were evaluated by monca’s exhibition committee, and each participating school produced a winning design.
First place went to Angelina Patterson from Marsh Junior High. She won a $100 gift card and three t-shirts printed with her design. Angelina’s teacher, Diana Abbott, was offered a free docent-led tour with her class to any upcoming show at the museum. Second place and a $75 gift card went to Marta Langston from Chico High School and the third place win of $50 went to Sydnee Nelson at Inspire High School . Ramielle Lohse from Bidwell Junior High was awarded an Honorable Mention. Thanks to all the students who participated. The museum plans to utilize the artwork of all the winners on stickers and other artful items.
The t-shirts are printed and available at monca’s gift shop at $20 each.
