OROVILLE — For the first time since 2005, the venerable Veterans Hall at 900 The Esplanade in Chico has a function and a future. The county-owned hall constructed in 1927 had been the home of various veterans' organizations and hosted a plethora of community events. Long in deteriorating condition, in 2005 it was declared unsafe to use. The veterans were moved to other facilities and the hall was closed to all other activities.Today the board approved a 20-year lease with the Museum of Northern California Art. The group will be required to bring the building up to the necessary code conditions for occupancy.
